Jayme Illien

is the founder of the United Nations International Day of Happiness (UNIDOHappiness),[1][2][3][4] a prominent United Nationsadvisor[5][6][7] and Chairman and CEO of Illien Global Public Benefit Corporation.[8][9][10][11][12][13]

In 2011, Illien brought the idea and concept for creating a new global holiday, the International Day of Happiness, to the United Nations. Jayme Illien led a multi year campaign approaching senior UN officials, and successfully convincing then UN Secretary General Ban Ki moon, and all 193 UN member states to join a global coalition support the idea of creating the new global holiday, and a new official UN sanctioned international calendar day of observance and awareness known worldwide as the International Day of Happiness[14][15][16][17]

Illien authored the new UN resolution 66/281 International Day of Happiness which, was ultimately adopted by all 193 UN Member states on June 28, 2012, thereby establishing March 20 as the International Day of Happiness in perpetuity.  Illien chose March 20 for its significance as the March equinox, a universal phenomenon felt simultaneously by all of humankind, and marking the first day of spring in the northern hemisphere, a period of renewal and new beginnings for all.[18]
